Take the yoke and praise the polar night. Ai Kumehara solo exhibition

2022/12/17(Sat) - 2022/12/25(Sun) Weekdays 12:00 - 18:30, Weekends and holidays 12:00 - 17:00 at Gallery ISHIKAWA

This exhibition will be held over the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year for the sun. The works in the exhibition, entitled "Take a Yoke, Praise the Polar Night," use symbols to help people survive the cold winter months. Animals and plants such as sheep, deer and holly have meaning under certain conditions, sometimes as a wish, sometimes as an object of faith. They suggest that the creatures have a role as "sacrifice" as well as each wish. We hope you will confront the works on display during this special period and imagine the intentions behind them.
