The fair offers a variety of experiences from appreciation to ownership regarding art that does not limit itself to the ancient and modern periods of time, from antiquities to contemporary art, but creates value for society from new perspectives while taking into account its history.

Kyoto has been the capital of Japan for over 1,000 years, and has always innovated as a center of Japanese culture. Today, the art market has even greater potential to become the core of new value creation in various fields such as the economy and social infrastructure. In Kyoto, where the Agency for Cultural Affairs is relocating to, the market will open in 2019 under the new name of "2019" and will be held in 2020 at Nijo Castle, a World Heritage Site, and the Meiji Ancient Capital of Kyoto National Museum, an Important Cultural Property.

The third edition of artKYOTO 2022 will be held in collaboration with "ART WALK KYOTO" as a commemorative project for the relocation of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. The Nijo Castle Ninomaru Palace Kitchen and Goshojo, which are not open to the public, will be used as a stage to communicate the value and potential of art to the rest of Japan and to the world.
